It's a quote, Snake. Here's another -

"Of all the enemies to public liberty war is, perhaps, the most to be dreaded, because it comprises and develops the germ of every other. War is the parent of armies; from these proceed debts and taxes; and armies, and debts, and taxes are the known instruments for bringing the many under the domination of the few. In war, too, the discretionary power of the Executive is extended; its influence in dealing out offices, honors, and emoluments is multiplied; and all the means of seducing the minds, are added to those of subduing the force, of the people.

"The same malignant aspect in republicanism may be traced in the inequality of fortunes, and the opportunities of fraud, growing out of a state of war, and in the degeneracy of manners and of morals, engendered by both. No nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare."

 - James Madison, "Political Observations" April 20, 1795

Met a local guy last night who has a career in the construction industry... told me a story about how he and his son were working on a project at a recently deactivated Army base... They started questioning what was really going on and were abruptly laid off the project.

Joel,

Did your new acquaintance give you any additional details - ie what raised their suspicions as to ask questions in the first place, were they told not to discuss the work being performed, etc.?

The strange thing is they weren't really making open questions...but they were doing lots of internet searches about the project.... like someone was monitoring their internet activity and didn't like what they were looking for and finding... No real explanation for being cut from the work being done.

It looks like the standard mish mash of truth and fiction. REX 84 is a 1984 contingency plan written by Oliver North. The article linked strains credibility. For example, I find it hard to believe the government is maintaining a facility capable of holding 2 million people in Alaska. We can't even deport that many illegals much less round up that many "subversives", transport and then house them in Alaska. I don't know about the other states, but the areas listed for AZ are prisons and army bases that couldn't hold many people. I can find many things that bother me more than a 25 year old document written by Oliver North. I would need a lot more info about the firing to worry about it. The WSJ ran a series on how companies use cookies to track web activity and pattern the user. More info linking your construction worker to gov't use of such info would be more concerning to me.

I agree that it all sounds a bit paranoid...  this wasn't internet use while on the job... it was from their own homes, off hours.   Seems clearly that there is some 'master plan' being implemented across the country, perhaps in the name of readiness (natural disaster or otherwise).  What remains a mystery is who is pulling the strings and what really is the agenda?

Quote Joelm: "What remains a mystery is who is pulling the strings and what really is the agenda?"

Process of elimination?--Would seem, in order to implement/utilize a setup like that --(detain millions)--, a "State of National Emergency" would have to exist. Now who could call that??--I think we can take The BSA-(Boy Scouts of America) off the list. --???.

Cause & Effect: A war with Iran, escalating into a world wide Muslim "uprising" might qualify for openers. Coupled with Natl. semi shutdown, and nasty civil demonstrations over Super Carteresque Style Auto Gas disappearance, with a garnish of rising inflation and interest rates, just might "seal the deal"!.

With troops deployed overseas, and States already in rebellion over buying health care and Border security + Broke!-and laying off Civil Servants--Who Ya gonna use??, Acorn??--I think an uprising of NRA members would trump them-??.

Who was that Masked Man??--just left town on AF-1 with the football??.

May be fun to speculate, but with so many "Dire" factors falling within the limits of the Possible, the sky is quickly covered with storm clouds. A fourth for Ladies Bridge constitutes a "Conspiracy"!.

It's fine to prepare well in advance for disaster, but as in Italy in April of 44, Luigi would send Momma to the "Flag drawer" at the first sound of tanks--"It's the Americans Momma!!--Quick gimme the American flag to hang out the window!!.

Keep the faith!!-And a nice white pocket hankie also!.------Just in case----
